by Ananya Sethi
On August 22, the Institute of Global Politics (IGP) announced its second cohort of Carnegie Distinguished Fellows. The Carnegie Distinguished Fellows program at IGP is a recognition of individual excellence. It is a platform for global leaders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and contribute to shaping the future of public policy. The cohort this year features former high-ranking policy officials, diplomats, a world-renowned journalist, a groundbreaking activist, industry-defining entrepreneurs and experts, and more.
IGP is a center at Columbia University focused on addressing key global issues through research and policy development. Through its research, policy initiatives, and educational programs, IGP fosters practical solutions and promotes informed dialogue on issues ranging from political stability to climate change.
IGP’s leadership includes Hillary Rodham Clinton, 67th Secretary of State and former Senator from New York, Keren Yarhi-Milo, Dean of Columbia School of International and Public Affairs, and Christina Shelby, the Executive Director. IGP’s stated mission is to train the next generation of leaders and provide SIPA students with the opportunity to engage with global experts and navigate complex policy challenges.
Dean Yarhi-Milo describes IGP as “the living embodiment of SIPA’s mission, our global ambition, and our commitment to evidence-based solutions and meaningful dialogue”
As the summer concludes, and SIPA welcomes a new batch of students, IGP has introduced the 2024–2025 cohort of Carnegie Distinguished Fellows. This prestigious group comprises some of the most influential and visionary figures from around the world, each bringing a unique perspective to the institute's mission.
