The Looks of Spring Gala

By Anaïs Skok

On April 24, Seeples gathered downtown for the Spring Gala. In a policy school that is familiar with sensible loafers and UN-ready blazers, how well did we show up for SIPA’s black-tie event of the year?

On their way to the event, a group of gala-goers were sighted on their $3.79 million MTA ride. Like A$AP Rocky once said in a song, “(I know one thing) Anything is better than that 1 Train.”

What A$AP doesn’t know are the fashion killas of SIPA who traversed in their stilettos and patent-leather shoes. On that particular Friday, the 1 train was elevated beyond its humble bearings.

With Kangol hats in mind, Love Story has been the trend-setter of 2026. In that spirit, Tuva and Annapurna channeled their inner Carolyn Bessette for the gala.

At Capitale, among the Morningsiders who pooled around the open bar, one hat stood out. Though formal menswear has traditionally been confined to black tux and white shirt, Calvin was tastefully defiant, sporting a Kangol beret, crochet polo, and a sleek tie.

While 2025 was the year of quiet luxury, there were more than a few glittering gems in the crowd. The girls echoed Versace x Naomi Campbell circa 1995 with shining, sweeping numbers.

Lastly, in a very SIPA manner, Lucas showed up in his U.S. Navy Dress Blues. Here is one man that did not have to rent his tux, but earned it.

At a school training the next generation of world leaders, one thing is clear—we clean up well, and can certainly take on an open bar.
